Police investigating deadly motorcycle wreck in west Houston

A deadly motorcycle crash is blocking several lanes of Westheimer in west Houston on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2019.

Police are investigating a deadly motorcycle crash in west Houston.

The crash happened around 6 a.m. along Westheimer near South Kirkwood Drive on Wednesday morning, police said. It is not immediately clear what happened, but Houston police say a motorcycle and an SUV collided near the intersection.

Both the motorcyclist and the driver of the SUV were taken to nearby hospitals, where one of them was pronounced dead. Police were unable to confirm which operator died.

Crash investigators had all eastbound lanes of Westheimer closed, but the lanes have since reopened.
