Pedestrian hit, killed by vehicle as he attempted to cross Grand Prairie highway

A pedestrian was killed Wednesday after being hit by a vehicle on Interstate 20 in Grand Prairie, authorities said.

He was the third pedestrian killed on North Texas highways in a week.

The victim was Bradley Cole Wright, 31, of Angleton, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office website on Wednesday. A ruling on his death is pending.

The fatal accident was reported shortly before 3:30 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-20 near Texas 360, according to Grand Prairie police.Wright was trying to cross the highway when he was hit by a vehicle, Grand Prairie police said. The crash disabled the vehicle, which was then struck by another vehicle. No other injuries were reported.

No charges are expected to be filed, according to Grand Prairie police, who continued to investigate the wreck.

Just a week ago, a Crowley woman was hit and killed on Interstate 20 in Arlington by a hit-and-run driver.

The victim in Arlington was identified as Celina Nichol Giunta, 43, of Crowley, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office website. She died from blunt-force trauma and her death was ruled an accident.

Arlington police responded to the fatal incident about 12:30 a.m. on Nov. 27 in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 20 near Matlock Road in Arlington. That accident was near where the fatal crash happened in Grand Prairie early Wednesday.

In the Arlington accident, motorists had reported seeing the woman walking along the shoulder of the highway.

On Saturday, a 34-year-old Fort Worth man died from injuries he suffered when he was hit by a vehicle on near Interstate 30 in east Fort Worth.

The victim was Dean Ray Hutcherson, according to the medical examiner’s website.

He was pronounced dead at 7:43 p.m. Saturday at a Fort Worth hospital.

A motorist told Fort Worth police she was driving westbound on a ramp to enter I-30 when she saw the victim standing on a shoulder of the road, waving his hands.

The victim was hit when he stepped onto the roadway in front of her vehicle, Fort Worth police said.

No arrests were made in the Fort Worth incident.
