DPS: Wrong-way driver blamed in fatal Robertson County accident
At least two people died in separate accidents in Robertson County on Sunday, officials said.
The first accident happened about 3:40 p.m. just north of Hearne on the U.S. 79 overpass the crosses Texas 6, Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman Jimmy Morgan said.
A pickup pulling a trailer was headed west on the eastbound overpass, Morgan said, when it struck another vehicle, killing that vehicle's driver.
The driver and a passenger in the pickup were taken to CHI St. Joseph hospital in Bryan with unknown injuries, Morgan said.
The name of the driver who was killed was not released pending notification of next of kin. Morgan said people in both vehicles were wearing seat belts.
The road was closed for more than three hours.
As emergency crews were on the scene of that accident, a second fatal accident was reported south of Hearne. Details of that accident weren't available late Sunday.
