ROBERTSON COUNTY, Tex. (KBTX)- Three people on Sunday were killed in separate crashes in Robertson County.
DPS Sgt. Jimmy Morgan said the first accident happened at around 3:40 p.m. on US 79 at Highway 6, north of Hearne. A pickup truck pulling a trailer was heading west on the eastbound overpass when it struck a car.
The driver of that car, Christopher Evan, 47, of Hearne was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 66-year-old driver of the truck was taken to the hospital with incapacitating injuries and is in stable condition. A 68-year-old passenger in the truck was treated and released with minor injuries. Both people are from Ruston, Louisiana.
The second accident occurred just after 6:00 p.m. on SH 6 near FM 2549 in the Sutton community in south Robertson County. Three vehicles were involved in that accident.
Morgan says an Infiniti car and Ford SUV were traveling south on Highway 6 when the car struck the SUV, pushing it into the northbound lanes.
That's when the SUV collided with a third car traveling north.
The driver and passenger in the SUV, Wesley Sanders, 19, of Lexington and Maegan Sanders, 22, of Laredo were pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers say the two victims were brother and sister.
The third car's driver was taken to a hospital in Temple with unknown injuries. He's been identified as Douglas Leighton, 25, of Tyler.
The Infiniti's driver was uninjured. He's been identified as Conor Lowen, 19, of Arlington.
Both crashes are under investigation.
