Two men died after they were involved in a two-vehicle crash in Bee County on Wednesday.

Texas Department of Public Safety officials believe the crash happened about 9:56 a.m. on U.S. Highway 181, south of Normanna in Bee County, according to a news release.

Authorities believe a 2017 Peterbilt semi-trailer, driven by a man, was traveling south on U.S. 181. For reasons unknown, the semi-trailer veered into the northbound lane of U.S. 181, where it struck a 2009 Dodge Ram pickup head-on, the release states.

The roadway was wet at the time of the crash.

A 61-year-old man from Fort Worth and a 74-year-old man from Arlington, who were in the pickup, were pronounced dead at the scene, the release states.

Authorities identified the men as Mark Wesley Swisher, 61, and William Charles Mego, 74.

The man driving the semi-trailer was taken to Christus Spohn Hospital Shoreline in Corpus Christi with serious injuries. His injuries were not considered life-threatening, the release states.

Troopers are continuing to investigate the crash.
