CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A 20-year-old woman was killed Monday night in a rollover crash that also sent her two sons and one other passenger to the hospital. The accident happened on the Crosstown Expressway near Horne Road.

That woman has been identified by family members as Brianna Cruz, and the two boys in the car her 3-year-old son and 1-year-old.

The damage remains visible on the guardrail where the SUV crashed around 11 p.m. Monday.

Stephanie Gonzalez was on her way to work with her coworker when she saw the wreck.

"I just heard the tires just spinning like it was going out of control," Gonzalez said.

Gonzalez said she was driving in the right lane when her passenger warned her that Cruz's vehicle was swerving back and forth from the left lane into the middle lane.

"She grabbed my arm and I released my gas," Gonzalez said, "and that's when it just went straight, straight over."

The vehicle went over the guardrail, down the embankment and landed upside-down on the frontage road near Horne.

Gonzalez said her passenger immediately called 911. When Gonzalez arrived to the scene, several people already were helping.

"I saw her, I went on the side and saw how she was placed and then I went to the other side," Gonzalez said. "I had seen where all the blood was just coming out, so I knew that there was no way to save her."

Cruz was pronounced dead at the scene. Her sons were pulled from the car, along with a man in his 20s, and taken to the hospital.

"I didn't hear none of them crying." Gonzalez said. "They looked like they were asleep. Like, everything happened so fast. They were barely waking up from everything."

KRIS 6 News has been told the children are at Driscoll Children's Hospital. One of them is in fair condition, and the other is in serious condition.

The family tells us all three of them are expected to be okay.

Police still are investigating why the SUV went off the highway.
