One dead, 2 injured after section of ceiling collapses at Pilgrim's Pride plant in Waco

WACO, TX — One person has died and two others were injured after falling through the roof during renovations at the Pilgrim's Pride plant in Waco.
Waco Fire first responded to a call for a ceiling that collapsed around 7:25 am at 2500 Lakeshore Dr. in Waco.
When they arrived, they successfully cleared the debris and transported two people to Baylor Scott.
Waco Fire Department also reported that one person had died on the scene.
No other injuries were reported.
A spokesperson for Pilgrim's Pride said, "Pilgrim’s Waco is saddened to report that three outside contractors conducting renovation activities at the facility suffered injuries from a fall through a small section of the roof where they were working. It is our understanding that one of the contractors sustained fatal injuries. No Pilgrim’s employees were involved in the accident."
According to Pilgrim's workers, first responders were immediately contacted after learning about the incident.
Pilgrim's has announced an internal investigation will be conducted to gain a better understanding of what caused the incident.
