One dead, 1 in critical condition after rollover on rural area highway

HOLLAND, Texas (KWTX) One person is dead and another was taken to Scott & White Medical Center in Temple in critical condition after a pickup truck veered off a rural Bell County highway and overturned, rolling over “multiple times.”

The accident happened at around 1:45 p.m. Wednesday on State Highway 95 near Roberts Road north of Holland, Department of Public Safety Sgt. Ryan Howard said.

The Dodge pickup was southbound when it left the roadway, Howard said.

The driver lost control of the truck while attempting to steer back onto the highway and the pickup overturned, Howard said.

The passenger died at the scene.

The names of the victims weren’t immediately released.
