Nederland woman killed in Monday morning wreck along Dupont Drive near Adams Bayou

At least one person has been killed in the wreck involving a passenger car and a pickup truck.

ORANGE, Texas — A Nederland woman was killed in a Monday morning wreck near Adams Bayou in the south end of the city of Orange.

Dana Barnes, 41, of Nederland, was killed after the 2016 Nissan Versa she was driving north on Dupont Drive drifted into oncoming traffic and was struck by a 2008 Ford F-350 pickup truck according to the Orange Police Department.

The head-on wreck which closed Dupont Drive in both directions happened near The Orange Boat Club just north of Adams Bayou.

Barnes was driving into Orange on her way to work just before 8 a.m. when the wreck happened police said.

Police say they are unsure why she drifted into oncoming traffic.

She was pronounced dead at the scene and an autopsy has been ordered
