FALLS COUNTY, Texas (KWTX) Authorities Tuesday identified an 85-year-old Central Texas man who died in a collision with a 20-ton military Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck as Armand Ott of Lott.

Lott was driving west at around 5 p.m. on Friday on State Highway 7 about 6.5 miles southwest of Marlin when the driver of the HEMTT recovery truck failed to yield right away while turning left at the intersection of Highway 7 and State Highway 320 just west of the Brazos River, Department of Public Safety Sgt. Ryan Howard said.

Ott’s Toyota passenger car slammed into the HEMTT, Howard said.

He died at the scene.

No other injuries were reported.

The HEMTT is an eight-wheel drive wrecker with a 500-horsepower diesel that’s equipped for quick recovery of tactical vehicles weighing 10 tons of more.
