BEAUMONT, Texas — A Beaumont Police spokesperson says the person who was killed in an accident on Highway 69 Tuesday is a 24-year-old man from Jasper. Beaumont police Sgt. Cody Guedry said the man who died is Keelyn Travion Davis.
The accident happened Wednesday afternoon along northbound U.S. Highway 69. Police on Wednesday said it involved two vehicles and four people. 12News withheld the victim's name until Thursday morning when officials said family members had been notified.
Police have talked to witnesses, but have not released many details about the crash. A news release with more details is expected sometime Thursday.
"Obviously, it was very tragic. A very violent crash. Our hearts and prayers go out to the family that was affected," Beaumont Police spokesperson Haley Morrow said. "And anyone who was involved."
The business owners at Starlock Tech said a tire from the crash hit their car.
"And that tire, as you can see, looks like it flew off of the passenger back tire. And it just broke off and flew and hit that (her truck). That must have been what we heard," said Monica Jannise one owner of Starlock Techs in Beaumont.
"I’ve never seen anything like this. My husband and I have owned Starlock Techs for 40 years. We’ve been in this location for almost 20. The only incident that’s not even close to that was a corvette one night that pulled off going really fast and ended up in our business-in the building, but nothing like this. This is a bad one," Jannise said.
