CHILDRESS COUNTY, Texas (KVII) — Recently retired Nazareth ISD Superintendent Glen Waldo has died after a car accident yesterday in Childress County, according to Texas Department of Public Safety.

Authorities said the wreck happened near FM 164 and U.S. Highway 287 north of Childress.

Neither the cause nor the exact circumstances of the wreck have yet been released by officials.

Waldo retired from Nazareth ISD back in September after decades of service in Texas public education, including a stint at nearby Happy ISD.

Nazareth Superintendent Dr. Kara Sue Garlitz released the following statement on Waldo's passing:

Nazareth ISD is deeply saddened with the loss of Glen Waldo. He was a man of true character who loved God, his family, his country and his school district. Mr. Waldo was a truly outstanding educator who has left an indelible mark on every student, staff member, parent, and community member he has worked with through the years. Nazareth will miss him as we keep his wife and sons in our thoughts and prayers.
