Fatal crash near Goodnight this afternoon

GOODNIGHT, Texas (KFDA) - One person has died after a wreck on US 287 near Goodnight this afternoon.

According to DPS, a tractor-trailer traveling east struck the rear end of an SUV causing the SUV to spin out of control clockwise and move into the center median.

The SUV then continued striking the far slope of the median and spun around once more before coming to rest.

An unsecured passenger, 60-year-old Tojuanna Pierce of Clarendon was thrown from the SUV.

Pierce was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the SUV was transported to Northwest Texas Hospital with severe injuries and remained in stable condition.

The investigation of this incident is currently ongoing.
