TRENTON, Texas (KXII) A two-vehicle crash on the intersection of two major Texas highways left three people critically injured and a huge mess that took hours to clean.

Trenton police said an 18-wheeler carrying sand collided Thursday with an SUV heading west on Highway 121, just after the intersection with Highway 69.

They say three people were taken to the hospital in critical condition, two by helicopter and one by ambulance.

Crews worked to clear the sand off the roadway.

Both lanes of Highway 121 were shut down for about four hours.

A liquor store surveillance camera recorded the crash.

Authorities are reviewing the video.
