Central Texas man dies after motorcycle hits icy patch on I-35

WEST, Texas (KWTX) Authorities have identified a Central Texas man who died early Thursday morning after his motorcycle hit an icy patch on Interstate 35 and then was struck by a pickup truck as Cody Smith, 25 of West.

Smith was riding south on the Interstate near Wiggins Road south of West when he lost control of the motorcycle after the bike hit the icy patch, Department of Public Safety Sgt. Ryan Howard said.

He was then struck by a Chevrolet pickup.

Smith died at the scene.

The accident is under investigation.

The southbound highway was closed in the area of the accident until around 10 a.m.
