2 dead, 6 injured in multi-vehicle crash that shut down I-35W in Burleson

Interstate 35W was shut down Sunday evening after a fatal accident.

Burleson police reported just before 6:45 p.m. that police and fire crews were working a multivehicle crash on southbound I-35W near Bethesda Road.

According to officials, two people died in the crash, one suffered life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to a hospital, and five other people were injured and transported in ambulances.

Officials closed the highway in both directions as they worked to clear the scene.

Northbound I-35W had reopened as of 7:30 p.m., but southbound lanes remained closed and traffic was being detoured at Burleson Boulevard.
