1 killed in 18-wheeler crash in Southeast Austin; Westbound Texas 71 closed at Riverside Drive

One person was killed early Monday in a crash involving an 18-wheeler and a vehicle in Southeast Austin, Austin-Travis County EMS medics said.

Medics at 2:07 a.m. responded to the westbound lanes of the 7200 block of Texas 71, near Montopolis Drive. 

The person was pronounced dead at the scene, medics said.

The westbound lanes of Texas 71 at Riverside Drive have been closed since just before 3 a.m., the Texas Department of Transportation said.
