Having been the winning lead counsel in dozens of high-profile criminal trials since his admission in 2012, Matt is one of the most accomplished and talented young lawyers in South Texas.
Matt began his career as a city attorney for Corpus Christi, prosecuting Class C misdemeanors. Within months, he was hired by the Nueces County DA’s Office.
There, he caught the attention of Mark Gonzalez, a young lawyer with a thriving defense firm. Mark hired Matt in 2015, and they practiced criminal defense together until 2017, when Mark was elected to be our District Attorney. Naturally, Matt became Mark’s First Assistant District Attorney and Lead Prosecutor.
While sitting on the jury panel of a murder case that Matt tried in early 2019, Parker Webb was struck by Matt’s poise and ability to engage jurors in voir dire. Soon after the trial, Webb Cason Injury Lawyers began recruiting him.
If you ask him, Matt will admit that he had not seriously considered making the jump to personal injury before we approached him; but after several meetings with us, he knew it was the right choice.
He is excited by the unique opportunities of an injury practice and is ready for the challenge. We’re proud to have him on the team. We know he’ll soon be one of the greats.
